Luke 13 opens with a discussion between Jesus and the ever present crowd. Knowing their judgmental thoughts regarding the unfair and untimely deaths of two groups of people, Jesus begins to reveal truth and correct their thinking. Neither the brutal killing of some Galileans at the hand of Pilate, nor the accidental demise of some workers in Siloam, could be connected in any way to their sin. We live in a fallen world. Sadly, bad things happen to good people everyday. Coronavirus may claim ... continue reading...
Worry, Fear, and Anxiety
A good portion of my life was spent living riddled with anxiety. My family should have bought stock in Pepto-Bismol because I carried the pink cocktail everywhere I went...just in case I might get a stomach ache. Instead of living like the lilies of the field, I was anxious about what I wore and what everyone thought of me. Especially my dad, who didn't seem to know how to communicate acceptance in a way I understood, so my performance never seemed to be enough. Living to please others ... continue reading...
Ask, Seek, Knock
Lord, teach us to pray. As a kindergarten teacher in a Christian school, the disciples request in Luke 11:1 makes my heart so happy. Modeling and teaching prayer to children is one of my greatest privileges and joys. Some of the most powerful and precious prayer times are ones I've had with my students. I am encouraged by their faith, challenged by their honesty, and inspired by their love for God. My classroom motto is "Mistakes are for learning." and I decorate my room with bumble ... continue reading...

Have you ever asked the Lord of the Harvest where He wants you to serve? Usually we find our calling through our gifting. But not always. Sometimes a need comes up and we step in to fill it, then find it fulfills a deep need in us. Other times, we serve in the hard places we've overcome. Addictions, failures, and mistakes often lead to fruitful ministry once ... continue reading...
Miracles, Mountains, and Misunderstanding
Luke chapter 9 gives us much to pray about. Even after exercising amazing power and authority given by God, the disciples still misunderstood Jesus' kingdom. Upon returning home from preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere, the disciples fail their first test of faith. I've been there, have you? Ever experience God working in amazing ways at work or church, then come home and yell at the kids? Resentment rears its ugly head with our spouse, and we forget God's power isn't just ... continue reading...
