Whether you are rooting for the Patriots or the Falcons, would you join me in prayer?
Not for the outcome of the game but for peace in our country.
You would have to play in a sandbox or be a hermit not to notice the increasing tension in our country today.
Pro choice against pro life. Trump supporters against haters. Liberal against Conservative. Black against White. CNN against FOX. Christian against Christian.
Unfortunately,
the body of Christ is not immune to the tension. Christians on both sides of the political aisle interpret social justice differently. I’m saddened by articles and Facebook posts slandering and smearing the reputation of other Christians who don’t agree with their political view.
What happened to grace?
What happened to trusting in the sovereignty of God?
What happened to the command to love one another so that all men will know that we are his disciples?
Proverbs 21:1 reminds us that the king’s (and a president’s) heart
is like streams of water in the Lord’s hand.
He directs it wherever He chooses.
Whether you see President Trump as the champion of our republic or a judgement on America, God has sovereignly allowed him to win the election.
So what’s a Christian to do?
2 Chronicles 7:14
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. ”
Will you join your heart and voice with brothers and sisters across our nation? Even if you’re a Falcon Fan, would you be willing to become a patriot and pray during half time of the Super Bowl today?
A patriot is someone who loves their country and is willing to support and defend it with devotion. Would you be willing to devote some time to pray for our nation? People all over America are already committed to pray for the freedom of those caught in human trafficking. Let’s join their prayer party and ask for the Lord’s mercy, justice, and freedom to reign from sea to shining sea.
Our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, ready to devour us. 1 Peter 5:8
Let’s stand against the enemies schemes to take down our nation by dividing us. Let’s stand united together in prayer.
“Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven?
You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations.
Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you….
we don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
2 Chronicles 20:6,12
Please share this post if you are burdened for the peace of God to rule in our hearts and in our land. I’m praying that God will raise up people to stand in the gap for America. I for one need to get off my couch of complacency and seek God’s mercy, guidance, and hope for change. What is God calling you to do?
