Dear Faithful Prayer Warriors,
Thank you for joining me on this journey through prayer. I am humbled by your commitment to pray. Please keep these scriptures in mind as you pray for our team.
Below is our itinerary with some requests by each date. Ethiopia is 9 hours ahead of Central Standard Time.
Thursday -Friday Mach 17-18
Travel days: Safety and protection. Several team members have back/neck issues. Strength and energy for the 19 1/2 hour trip on 3 planes. Pray for unity and love to knit our hearts together; 7 adults and 7 students.
Saturday, March 19
Visit to Korah, a community of extreme poverty located next to the city dump. We will take fabric to Carry 117; an organization that is helping a few women make a living by sewing bags. Last time I visited them I was overcome by their courage, tenacity, love for the Lord, and their hope. As the interpreter told their stories about abuse, AIDS, and begging for food, it was all I could do not to sob. Please ask the Lord to help me keep my composure, encourage and love on them. May we be inspired by them even as we seek to be a blessing to them.
Visit to Kind Hearts Care Point. This is where St. Joseph Christian School built a clean water well and a bathroom facility. We will encourage and pray for the teachers.
Sunday, March 20
Church at BEZA International Church. Ask the Lord to speak His Word powerfully and fill us with joy as we gather with believers from around the world to worship.
5 hour bus ride to Warancha Care Point . This road has been described as “dangerous”. Please pray for our safety. There is no speed limit in Ethiopia, and this is a paved hiway with all manner of animals crossing randomly or with their shepherd.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, March 21-23
Warrancha Care Point/School: Observation of classes, reading letters to children from their sponsors and praying over them. Encouraging the teachers at a lunch held in their honor. I will be giving a short devotional. Please ask the Lord what He wants me to share in language that will be easily translated into Amharic for the teachers. We will present money for 15 families to go to sheep husbandry school so they can begin to have an income. Children’s Hope Chest, the sponsoring organization of this Care Point, recently informed us of a severe drought in this area and the dire need for food. Please pray for these families. There are about 200 children at this care point.
We will also be doing some vacation Bible school activities with the children. This area is There is a fishing village nearby. Please pray for protection from diseases carried by mosquitos.
